In your 11 day China tour, you will visit the famous city of Xi’an, with its old city walls and its impressive bell tower. It also has the Terracotta Army that includes more than 6,000 individually crafted soldiers of stunning detail. You will also visit the capital city of Beijing with its wonderful highlights. The most exciting part of your trip will be the 3 day cruise covering some of the best gorges and landscapes China has to offer. Your trip will end in the infamous Shanghai where you get to explore the city and enjoy the various highlights the city has to offer.
Day 01: Arrival in Beijing
Arrival in Beijing and meet our representative. Transfer to hotel and complete check-in procedure. The rest of the day is left for you to have a good rest or to become familiar with the capital city at your own leisure.
Day 02: Beijing
You will meet your group members in the hotel lobby and have a short meeting. Then head to the first stop, Tian’anmen Square, the biggest urban city square in the world. From there you will enter the Imperial Palace, also known as the Forbidden City to explore its fascinating halls and pavilions. Here, you will not only learn how the emperor handled political affairs and lived their lives, but appreciate numerous ancient art treasures. At noon, an a la carte lunch will be served at a superb local restaurant, where you can have a taste of the authentic Chinese food.
In the afternoon, visit the Temple of Heaven, where the emperors worshipped the heavens in hopes of good harvests. To round out a memorable start to your travel, we will arrange a lively and dramatic Chinese Kung Fu Show at the Red Theater.
Day 03: Beijing
The morning itinerary will take you to Badaling to experience first hand the wonder of the Great Wall and a jade factory. We suggest you wear a pair of comfortable shoes as you need to climb steps to get on the wall. Standing on the wall and looking at it stretching up and down into boundless distance is an exciting experience and will leave you a life-long memory.
To celebrate and commemorate this moment, we specially provide red wine for a group- toasting on the Great Wall.
In the afternoon, the journey will take you to the Sacred Way. En route downtown, you will have a chance to see the exterior of the Bird’s Nest (Olympic National Stadium).
Day 04: Beijing – Xian
The first stop for today will be Summer Palace – the largest existing imperial garden with a graceful landscape and magnificent constructions. Then we will go to a pearl store. After that, lunch at a fancy restaurant with delicious food and great atmosphere.
In the afternoon, a trip to the old Hutongs will conclude your memorable Beijing trip. Taking the local rickshaw and traveling along the narrow lanes, you can soak in the original Beijing lifestyle and culture.
Depart to the airport for your flight to Xian. On your arrival in Xian, the local guide will meet you outside the baggage claim area and transfer you to the downtown area to check in at the hotel for a two-night stay.
Day 05: Xian
The visit to the magnificent Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum will start your day’s trip. In the museum, there are altogether three excavated pits exhibiting amazing warrior figures and Chinese ancient weapons. Then a pottery making factory is scheduled. At noon, a special home-cooked a la carte lunch will be served to you at a local home. Particularly, you can learn to cook Chinese food from the hostess. It is a good chance for you to learn more about the local people and will be one of the most memorable parts of your trip.
In the afternoon, you will visit the Xian Museum and then the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, which was built about 1,300 years ago in the Tang Dynasty to store the Buddhist scriptures brought from ancient India. A splendid evening is in store when you will be entertained by the Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show while partaking of the famous Dumpling Dinner.
Day 06: Xian – Chongqing
After breakfast, you will visit the City Wall. It is the most complete existing urban fortification in China. Cycling on the ancient wall is a special experience that many people like to try (bike rental fee is not included). Then head for Shaanxi History Museum. You will enjoy an a la carte lunch at a famous local restaurant.
In the afternoon, you will board the flight to Chongqing. Your local guide will pick you up at the airport and take you to visit Ciqikou Ancient Town. Then you will head for Chaotianmen Ferry Terminal to board the luxurious Yangtze River cruise ship, which is the most relaxed journey of your 11 days China itinerary. The ship sails at 22:00.
Day 07: Shibaozhai
In the morning, the river guide will give an introduction to the cruise schedule and the Yangtze River. At about 14:00, the ship will disembark at Zhongxian for an onshore excursion to Shibaozhai. After that, you will re-board the ship and the cruise will continue towards the splendid Three Gorges. This evening, the cruise staff will invite you to join the Captain’s Welcome Party.
Day 08: Badong – Xiling Gorge – Sandouping
Today will be the last day of your cruise. The unique scenery of the Three Gorges will be an enriching experience. Among them, Qutang Gorge is the most dangerous and shortest. Wu Gorge is the most beautiful, renowned for its deep valley and elegant beauty. In Wu Gorge, you will change to a sampan to take a side trip along Shennong Stream for 3 to 4 hours. Shennong Stream features picturesque natural beauty, distinctive Tujia flavor, boat tracking culture and valued historical relics.
After that, you will return to the ship and sail into Xiling Gorge. In the evening, the ship will travel through the Five Level Ship Lock of the Three Gorges Dam. The river guide will describe the well known project on the ship’s deck and you can watch the whole process of the ship passing through the gigantic lock.
Day 09: Yichang – Shanghai
After breakfast, you will disembark for an excursion to the Three Gorges Dam. Then you will re-embark and complete check-out procedures. Our guide in Yichang will pick you up on board and transfer you to the city for lunch.
After that we will see you off in the airport for the flight to Shanghai. Upon arrival, your guide will meet you in the airport and transfer you to the hotel.
Day 10: Shanghai
Shanghai is an international metropolis with a blend of rich history and fashionable modernity. The short one-day trip will give you a panoramic view of the city. In the morning, visit Shanghai Museum, the beautiful Yuyuan Garden and a silk shop. In the museum, there are over 120,000 historical collections from ancient China. Yuyuan Garden, which was a private residence constructed 400 years ago, is one of the best combinations of ancient Chinese buildings, water, mountain and natural scenery. Around noon, a luxurious farewell a la carte lunch will be served at a famous restaurant with the best Shanghai cuisine.
In the afternoon, you will be guided to stroll along the Bund to experience the thrills of old and modern Shanghai. You will also have a cruise tour along the Huangpu River. In the end, our guide will transfer you back to the hotel.
Day 11: Departure
After breakfast at the hotel, you will travel to the airport for your homeward flight.
