Your highlights of China offers you a wonderful range of experiences, including some of the finest cultural heritage sties and spectacular landscapes in China. Your tour will start in the Capital City of Beijing before moving to Xian and Shanghai. Enjoy day tours of the different cities as you immerse in the cultural experiences of China. Visit all the landmark sights and even learn to cook traditional chinese food with one of your hosts.
Day 01: Day 01: Arrival in Beijing
Arrival in Beijing and meet our representative. Transfer to hotel and complete check-in procedure. The rest of the day is left for you to have a good rest or to become familiar with the capital city at your own leisure.
Day 02: Beijing
You will meet your group members in the hotel lobby and have a short meeting. Then head to the first stop, Tian’anmen Square, the biggest urban city square in the world. From there you will enter the Imperial Palace, also known as the Forbidden City to explore its fascinating halls and pavilions. Here, you will not only learn how the emperor handled political affairs and lived their lives, but appreciate numerous ancient art treasures. At noon, an a la carte lunch will be served at a superb local restaurant, where you can have a taste of the authentic Chinese food.
In the afternoon, visit the Temple of Heaven, where the emperors worshipped the heavens in hopes of good harvests. To round out a memorable start to your travel, we will arrange a lively and dramatic Chinese Kung Fu Show at the Red Theater.
Day 03: Beijing
The morning itinerary will take you to Badaling to experience first hand the wonder of the Great Wall and a jade factory. We suggest you wear a pair of comfortable shoes as you need to climb steps to get on the wall. Standing on the wall and looking at it stretching up and down into boundless distance is an exciting experience and will leave you a life- long memory.
To celebrate and commemorate this moment, we specially provide red wine for a group-toasting on the Great Wall.
In the afternoon, the journey will take you to the Sacred Way. En route downtown, you will have a chance to see the exterior of the Bird’s Nest (Olympic National Stadium).
Day 04: Beijing – Xian
The first stop for today will be Summer Palace – the largest existing imperial garden with a graceful landscape and magnificent constructions. Then we will go to a pearl store. After that, lunch at a fancy restaurant with delicious food and great atmosphere.
In the afternoon, a trip to the old Hutongs will conclude your memorable Beijing trip. Taking the local rickshaw and traveling along the narrow lanes, you can soak in the original Beijing lifestyle and culture.
Depart to the airport for your flight to Xian. On your arrival in Xian, the local guide will meet you outside the baggage claim area and transfer you to the downtown area to check in at the hotel for a two-night stay.
Day 05: Xian
The visit to the magnificent Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum will start your day’s trip. In the museum, there are altogether three excavated pits exhibiting amazing warrior figures and Chinese ancient weapons. Then a pottery making factory is scheduled. At noon, a special home-cooked a la carte lunch will be served to you at a local home. Particularly, you can learn to cook Chinese food from the hostess. It is a good chance for you to learn more about the local people and will be one of the most memorable parts of your trip.
In the afternoon, you will visit the Xian Museum and then the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, which was built about 1,300 years ago in the Tang Dynasty to store the Buddhist scriptures brought from ancient India. A splendid evening is in store when you will be entertained by the Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show while partaking of the famous Dumpling Dinner.
Day 06: Xian – Shanghai
After breakfast, you will visit the City Wall. It is the most complete existing urban fortification in China. Cycling on the ancient wall is a special experience that many people like to try (bike rental fee is not included). Then head for Shaanxi History Museum. You will enjoy an a la carte lunch at a famous local restaurant.
In the afternoon, you will board the flight to Shanghai. Your local guide will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to the hotel.
Day 07: Shanghai
A day tour with the highlights of Shanghai will commence in the morning. You will visit one of the four largest museums in our country, Shanghai Museum, which specializes in exhibiting art works from ancient times. After that, explore Yuyuan Garden. The symbol of the Garden is the Nine Zigzag Bridge built of granite and grass-white jade and the quaint, elegant mid-lake pavilion. Then a silk store is arranged. Afterwards, a farewell a la carte lunch will be served to you.
In the afternoon, wander in the famous Bund area and take a short cruise tour along the Huangpu River.
Day 08: Departure
After breakfast at the hotel, you will travel to the airport for your homeward flight.
