On this 7 days trip, you will visit Khuvsgul Lake, which is known as the Switzerland of Mongolia and the second clearest lake in Central Asia. The Lake water is crystal clear blue, so that you can see bottom of lake when you are sailing and this lake surround by deep forest and magniﬁcent mountains. Meet reindeer herders and explore their life style, custom and sacraments. Reindeer herders practice shamanism and live in huts. Tsaatans are the last reindeer herders who survived for thousands of years inhabiting the remotest subarctic taiga, moving between 5 and 10 times a year. Your tour will include the most visited Terelj National Park – beautiful scenery, interesting rock formations, Meditations temple & Turtle rock, Genghis Khan’s State Complex – the biggest (40m high) equestrian statue in the world. One of the highlights of this tour is the visit to a nomadic family to explore their lifestyle, where you will be offered Airag (fermented horse milk) if you so desire.
Day 01: Arrival in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
Whenever your international ﬂight lands in Ulaanbaatar, your tour guide will be ready to welcome you at the arrival hall, to transfer you to your hotel with a private car and driver. They will help you with luggage and hotel check-in. The rest of the day is free for you to be on your own. You may need some time to relax and recover from the long-distance ﬂight or possibly from jet-lag.
Day 02: Flight to Northern Mongolia –Khuvsgul Lake National Park
Transfer to the airport for morning ﬂight to Murun, which is a small town of Northern Mongolia. Upon arrival, your Khuvsgul tour guide will be waiting for you at arrivals, and your trip start to the Khuvsgul Lake, which is known as the Switzerland of Mongolia and second the clearest lake in Central Asia. The Lake water is crystal clear blue, so that you can see bottom of lake when you are sailing and this lake surround by deep forest and magniﬁcent mountains. After lunch in restaurant, we will explore the Khuvsgul Lake National Park. Relax and free time offers us the opportunity to explore the surroundings, hiking in the surrounding hills, swimming in the lake and enjoy the natural beauty of the region. Stay overnight at tourist Ger camp near shore of the lake.
Day 03: Half day trekking on horseback– Visit Tsaatan family (Reindeer herders)
After breakfast, we will saddle our horses and ride to meet a reindeer herder family. Depending on your experience, an appropriate horse will be selected for you.We will meet reindeer herders and explore their life style, custom and sacraments.Reindeer herders practices humanism and live in huts. Tsaatans are the last reindeer herders who survived for thousands of years inhabiting the remotest subarctic taiga, moving between 5 and 10 times a year. In the afternoon is free time for you to be on your own. There is great opportunity to hiking, canoe, kayaking or just enjoy at wild nature to take photos. Also you can ride motor-boat around lake. Stay overnight at tourist Ger camp near shore of the lake.
Day 04: Fly back to Ulaanbaatar – Genghis Khan’s Statue Complex
After breakfast, we will drive to airport of Мurun town and ﬂy back to Ulaanbaatar. On the way we will visit Uushig ancient Deer Stone Monument – as most clearly depicted deer stones in Mongolia. A deer,an arch, a shield, a horse, a knife, the moon, the sun and a mirror ﬁgured belt were engraved on the stones. Upon arrival, we will drive to the “Genghis Khan Statue Complex” which is currently the biggest (40m high) equestrian statue in the world. There is a recreation area, restaurants, and souvenir shops occupy the base structure. From here, we use an elevator or walk to the head of the horse through chest and back neck of the horse, where we can have farseeing and good panorama view over the complex area.
Day 05: Terelj National Park – Visit local nomadic family
After a relaxing breakfast, drive to Terelj National Park, which is one of the most visited national parks in Mongolia. The National Park is by its natural beauty, forested alpine mountains and interesting rock formations (Massive woolsack weather conditions) very well known. There is we will see Turtle Rock – interesting rock formation looking like a turtle and visit Ariyabal meditation temple – surrounded by scenic mountains with massive rock formations and sits at top of the mountain. The distance between the gate and the actual temple is about 1 km and it is only accessible by walking. To get to the top, you would cross the suspension bridge and climb up on 108 stairs, according to Buddhist prayer beads. This small hike is seen as a ritual to cleanse one’s sins. From the top, you can enjoy the breathtaking view overlooking the Terelj National Park. Before dinner, we will enjoy visiting the local nomad family to experience ﬁrsthand how people live the country side, a lifestyle which has not changed for centuries. Here you can help the herders with their daily tasks to get an idea of how nomadic people alongside of their livestock. There is we can taste Airag, which is made horse fermented milk. Overnight at tourist Ger camp.
Day 06: Classic Highlights in Ulaanbaatar
In the morning, drive back to Ulaanbaatar and enjoy a full day visiting classic highlights of Ulaanbaatar and visit National Museum of Mongolia – this museum presents Mongolian history and culture from prehistoric times to the present day. Next stop is The Genghis Square – lies at the heart of the city. There is a large construction site of massive bronze statues of Genghis Khan and his four warriors in front of Parliament House. Lunch will be Modern Nomads restaurant, one of the best restaurants in the city. Our trip continues to the “Gandan” Monastery, Mongolia’s largest functioning Buddhist monastery. Main temple house features a 26-meter- high majestic gilded statue of Migjid Janraisig. After little shopping for souvenirs and local products, we will visit “Wonders of Mongolia” folklore show by famous Tumen-Ekh ensemble – is one of the most successful folk art groups to share traditional Mongolian music with the world, having traveled to over 40 countries. Farewell dinner at “Bd’s Mongolian Barbeque” international chain restaurant and transferred to the hotel. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 07: Departure
As your Mongolia trip comes to end, your tour guide, driver and car will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to Chinggis Khaan International Airport for your departure ﬂight home. The guide will assist you with ﬂight check-in and luggage, and see you off at the point of security check. (B)
