GROUP TOUR – 8D / 7N
TURKEY – GEORGIA – AZERBAIJAN
Upon arrival in Istanbul, you will meet with our tour director and take a domestic flight to Trabzon, the black sea region of Turkey.
Proceed to visit Uzungol. With its lakeside mosque and forested mountains that recall Switzerland, the ‘hidden valley’ of Uzungöl (Long Lake) remains idyllic.
After, visit Church of the Holy Wisdom (Hagia Sophia of Black Sea), an important surviving example of late Byzantine architecture and one of Trabzon’s principal sights.
Next, proceed to visit the 1000-year-old Monastery of Virgin Mary at Sumela, which is among the most impressive sights of Turkey’s Black Sea Coast. It is not just the monastery itself that is the attraction, it’s the entire expedition that’s worth to see. The monastery’s alpine setting, which clings to a sheer rock cliff in the midst of dense evergreen forests amongst the splash of chill mountain streams may come as a surprise for those who think of Turkey as just a land of the rolling steppe.
