5 scrumptious buffets to indulge in, this Ramadan

June 14th, 2017

Ramadan buffets are all about experiencing a well-deserved indulgence with family members and friends, come sunset. After all, what’s all that food without our special entourage to share with? Every Ramadan brings with it a fresh series of communal dining events, and this year is no exception. Want to book yourself an all-you-can-eat iftar session for you and your loved ones, but don’t know where to go? Here are the best buffets currently taking Singapore by storm, for your consideration.

This year, the Asian Market Café brings you the special Ramadan Iftar Buffet Dinner that runs nightly, up until 26 June. Proving that the Asian spirit of unity is real even in gastronomy, the buffet features well-prepared regional delicacies alongside favourite Singaporean dishes. Think lots of laksa, herb-marinated roast lamb, and succulent satay! Also expect seafood fare by the way of fresh black mussels, salmon sashimi and snow crabs. Those feeling “bready”, meanwhile, can en- joy hearty selections at the live prata station. The buffet is priced at $72 per adult and $37 per child.

Located L2, Fairmont Singapore, 80 Bras Basah Road, Singapore.

What’s better than a tasty iftar experience? A tasty experience with a view, of course, which the Pop-Up Ramadan Buffet Restaurant at Hilton Singapore would guarantee. Diners can enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the Singaporean skyline while indulging in good food to their heart’s content. Starting from $58 per pax, the pop-up buffet is segmented into six different stations. Enjoy free-flow servings of Penang Assam Laksa, Beef Rendang and Pandan Chicken among other irre- sistible Asian dishes. Those looking to indulge in Western cuisines can look forward to culinary de- lights the likes of Chermoula Baked Sea Bass, Pan-Fried Salmon with Tomato Salsa, and the mouthwatering Roasted Whole Baby Lamb. Have an insatiable sweet tooth? Then make sure that you also have room for the Bandung Chocolate Fountain!

Located at Hilton Singapore, 581 Orchard Road, Singapore.

If you are a fan of Indonesian food, then you would definitely be interested in what Kintamani In- donesian Restaurant has to offer for Ramadan. Located at the Furama Riverfront, the halal-certi- fied restaurant is hosting a nightly buffet affair featuring delectable cuisines from all over Indonesia and around the world. Don’t miss out this year’s specialties: Deep Fried Fish Fillet with Hot and Spicy Sauce, Chili Anchovies and Peanuts, the 24-hour marinated Grilled Leg of Lamb and the heart-warming Traditional Rice Pudding with Palm Sugar.

Located at Furama Riverfront, 405 Havelock Road, Singapore.

Craving for a different kind of Thai invasion? Look no further than Blue Jasmine. In tandem with Park Hotel Farrer Park’s opening, the Thai restaurant is hosting an exclusive Ramadan menu until 24 June, featuring Stir Fried Minced Lamb with Yellow Curry Sauce and Roast Duck Red Curry, among other novel, flavourful creations. Don’t forget to end your iftar experience with some Mango Sticky Rice and Sweet Sago served with cendol, gula melaka and chocolate sauce.

Another Asia-inspired buffet that makes our list this year is StraitsKitchen’s Iftar Buffet Special. Tak- ing place in Grand Hyatt Singapore, this scrumptious buffet wins our heart for highlighting the best of Chinese, Malay, Indian, Indonesian and even Peranakan delicacies. On top of hearty Asian win- ners, the spread also stars exotic Arabic staples such as charcoal-grilled lamb, beef, chicken, and prawns, as well as baklava and muhallabia milk pudding for dessert. Available only until 26 June, the Ramadan buffet is priced at $78 per adult and $39 per child.

The Saltwater Chill & Grill Buffet at Saltwater Cafe is your best bet for an ultimate seafood, poultry and meat indulgence. Starting from $45 per pax, the buffet spread features both local and interna-tional cuisines, dispersed throughout the cafe’s perimeters via bustling live stations. Think fresh seafood offerings the likes of New Zealand Mussels and Snow Crab Leg. Then, there are also tons of succulent chargrilled chicken, melt-in-your-mouth beef ribs and juicy king prawns up for grabs. Also available are savoury Asian regulars such as Biryani, Laksa and Mee Siam for those desiring to take it slow.
