Hiking Trails Around The World

May 20th, 2017

Nature is one of the world’s greatest beauties. I myself love large cities, concrete jungles, as Alicia Keys would call them. But every now and then, we need that breath of fresh air. We need to get away from the hustle and bustle, submerge ourselves in green, enjoy what the world has to offer. If you’re looking to get out and get active, hiking is one of the easiest ways to start. So here are some of my top picks around the world.

#1. MacLehose Trail, Hong Kong

Starting with one of my favourite countries in the world, Hong Kong isn’t the biggest place there is. Nor is it known necessarily for its’ nature. But there has been a resurgence in hiking, or “hang saan”, as the locals call it in Cantonese. The trail itself is not an easy one, and is a whopping 62 miles, located in the New Territories.

#2. Inca Trail, Peru

This ancient trail spans over 33km, and winds around scenic mountains from the Sacred Valley all the way to Machu Pichu. Look forward to views of mountains tipped with snow and forests with heavy clouds, all while exploring ruin after ruin. This is one of South America’s most famous trails.

#3. Hua Shan, China

Located in Shaanxi province, the hiking track for Hua Shan is extremely dangerous, but also very iconic. Expect a lack of railings and steep steps scaling up rocky terrains, and most definitely adrenaline rushes if you dare to look back or down. If you do, though, the scenery is absolutely unforgettable, and is a once in a lifetime experience.

#4. Mount Rainier, USA

I hesitate to call this a trail, as it is more of an area. Mount Rainier is an active volcano located in Seattle, and while the mountain itself requires professional equipment and training to climb, there are also plenty of scenic paths for beginners as well. Check out the Wonderland Trail, which spans over 93 miles. What sets this aside is the huge glaciers on the mountain itself, and makes for great pictures, if you’re into photography.
