5 things you MUST do when in Dubai

September 12th, 2016

5-things-dubai

There was a time Dubai was nothing other than a fishing village with its bulk made up of a sandy desert but with the passing of time skyscrapers and beautiful spots are everywhere which has changed the look of things. Now, several tourists visit the city every now and then, and if you are one of them, at a point you must have been a stranger in the city who didn’t know the first step to take in terms of what to do or where to go. There are over seventy shopping malls from which shoppers have to choose from. With the thought that Oil reserves will run out someday, the government devised other means of income generation. What other way to bring in more money than provide avenues for the rich to spend their money?

This has however paid off really well as there are malls, hotels, resorts and other tourist attractions at every corner. You as a tourist might get confused on your first trip to Dubai so we have made a list of 8 places to visit in Dubai

#1. Dubai Museum in Al Fahidi Fort

It might be difficult for you to believe that Dubai was not always a very beautiful city like it is now. Visit the Dubai Museum to see pictures and images of Dubai before development. The museum which is situated in the Al Fahidi Fort which is about the oldest building in Dubai costs AED1 for children and AED3 for adults. It is open from 8.30am to 8.30pm from Saturdays to Thursdays and from 2.30pm to 8.30pm on Fridays.

#2. Go to a Souk (Market) – The Murshid Souk or Deira Gold Souk

At the Murshid Souk, you can get household goods here and at the Deira gold souk, all your jewelry needs will be met from necklaces, rings, gold, diamond, amethysts, emeralds, pearls and opals. A common phrase in a souk is “Anta tamzah rhair-ly jidan which means You must be joking, that’s too much!”

#3. Visit a shopping mall – Mall of the Emirates & Ibn Battuta Mall

These two malls are the most exquisite malls in the whole of Dubai and you cannot regret visiting any of them. In fact make sure you visit both on during your trip. Ski Dubai (the world’s first and longest indoor run) is in the Mall of the Emirates. The Mall of the Emirates also houses a charlift and two Alpine-themed restaurants.

Ibn Battuta Mall is the only shopping mall in the world that has the most themes. The mall houses 275 outlets which are arranged over 6 country-themed courts with very detailed and exquisite designs. The countries whose themes are in the mall are Egypt, Persia, Adalusia, India, Tunisia and China. The mall also houses a five-star hotel, multiplex cinema and ten pin bowling center.

#4. The Burj Al Arab

The hotel built in the shape of a sail is a must-visit for any tourist to the city of Dubai. The hotel worth billions of dollars sits on an artificial island just by the Jumeirah Beach. It is the fourth tallest hotel in the word (1053 feet) and it has dubbed itself a seven-star hotel which you will be forced to agree with when you see it.

#5. Jumeirah Mosque

The mosque is a must see for anyone who visits the city of Dubai. In every photograph depicting the beauty of Dubai, the Jumeirah mosque always features. The best time for you to visit this mosque is at night.
