From Singapore to Vietnam - how to plan your perfect vacation

Vietnam has quietly become one of the most popular destinations for travellers from Singapore. It is close, affordable, and packed with experiences that suit just about everyone. Whether you're heading there for the first time or thinking about a return trip, this guide breaks down everything you need to know to plan your Vietnam holiday right.

Why Singaporeans love travelling to Vietnam

It is only a two- to three-hour flight from Singapore, which makes it ideal for a long weekend or a full-week escape. The exchange rate is favourable, which means your money stretches further. And then there’s the variety. Cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh offer street food, shopping, and cultural sites. Places like Halong Bay or Da Nang bring nature, quiet, and luxury options.

Deciding where to go: North, Central or South Vietnam?

Vietnam’s geography gives you different vibes in different regions. You don’t have to see it all in one trip. But knowing where to start helps.

In Northern Vietnam, you’ll find cities like Hanoi, Halong Bay, and Sapa. This region is best for cooler weather, traditional markets, overnight cruises, and mountain scenery.

Central Vietnam includes destinations like Da Nang, Hoi An, and Hue. This is perfect for beach lovers, slow-paced travel, and lantern-lit ancient towns.

Southern Vietnam includes Ho Chi Minh and the Mekong Delta. It offers a mix of energy, history, and riverside villages. It is the country’s economic heart but also home to some very charming experiences.

A five to seven day trip can comfortably cover one or two regions without feeling rushed.

Vietnam visa for Singaporeans

If you hold a Singapore passport, you do not need a visa for short visits up to 30 days. Just ensure your passport has at least six months’ validity.

If you're travelling with non-Singaporeans, check their visa eligibility- just contact our team here. Most ASEAN passport holders are also visa-exempt for short trips.

Getting around in Vietnam

Domestic flights are frequent and affordable. Hanoi to Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh to Hoi An is just a short flight away. Most of our clients prefer private transfers between the airport and hotel for comfort and ease.

Trains are scenic but slower. Taxis and Grab are available in most cities, but it helps to have a guide or driver arranged. This is especially helpful if you're travelling in a group or with elderly family members.

Food options for different tastes and dietary needs

Vietnamese cuisine is fresh, flavourful, and surprisingly adaptable. While pho and banh mi are staples, there are plenty of options for vegetarians, seafood lovers, and those who prefer mild flavours.

For Muslim travellers, halal options exist in cities like Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi. We recommend letting us know in advance so we can arrange suitable meals throughout.

We also accommodate Jain meals, allergy-friendly meals, or dietary preferences for children and elderly travellers. Everything can be customised. Just let us know.

Is Vietnam family-friendly?

Absolutely. Kids love the boat rides in Halong Bay, cycling in Hoi An, and puppet shows in Hanoi. Older travellers enjoy cultural sites, scenic drives, and relaxing hotels.

For multi-generational trips, we usually recommend minimal hotel changes and private tours that move at your pace.

When is the best time to visit Vietnam from Singapore?

Northern Vietnam is best between March to May or September to November. The weather is cooler and there’s less rain.

Central Vietnam is great from March to August if you're looking for beach time.

Southern Vietnam’s dry season from December to April makes for comfortable travel.

If you’re going across regions, we help balance the itinerary to avoid bad weather in one place while maximising your time in others.

FAQs

Do I need to bring cash or can I use my card in Vietnam?

Cash is still common, especially in markets or small shops. We suggest bringing SGD to exchange at local counters. ATMs and cards are accepted at hotels, malls, and bigger restaurants.

How long should I stay in Vietnam?

A five day trip works well for Hanoi and Halong Bay or a quick Da Nang escape.

For a fuller experience, aim for seven to ten days to include more than one region.

Do you help with flights too?

Yes. We can book both international and domestic flights as part of your package.
