Day 2: Tokyo City Tour – Meiji Jingu Shrine, Shibuya Crossing, Hachiko Statue, Senso-ji Temple & Tsukiji Fish Market

After breakfast, your guide and driver will pick up your group at the hotel. Begin your Tokyo sightseeing in a small group as you visit some of the city's best known cultural landmarks and modern attractions. Visit Meiji Jingu Shrine, one of Tokyo's best known Shinto shrines. Walk through the peaceful forest surroundings and pass beneath Japan's largest wooden Torii gate, which marks the entrance to the shrine grounds. Along the way, see the colourful Sake Barrel Wall, where barrels donated from breweries across Japan are displayed. The shrine remains an important place for local Japanese people who come here to pray for good health, safe travels, family happiness and other blessings. Visit to Inner Garden of Meiji Jingu and the Museum are on pax account. Continue to the world famous Shibuya Crossing, often recognised as one of the busiest pedestrian crossings in the world. Nearby, visit the beloved Hachiko Statue, which honours the loyal dog remembered throughout Japan for faithfully waiting for his owner each day. Later, travel to Asakusa and visit Senso-ji Temple, Tokyo's oldest Buddhist temple with a history of more than 1,300 years. Enter through the famous Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate), known for its giant red lantern and traditional architecture, before continuing along Nakamise Shopping Street, one of Japan's oldest shopping streets lined with local snacks, souvenirs and handicrafts. At the end of the street, arrive at Senso-ji Temple, which remains one of Tokyo's most visited religious and cultural landmarks. From the historic streets of Asakusa, capture a photograph of the Tokyo Skytree. Standing as Japan’s tallest tower at 634 metres, it provides a striking visual contrast between the ancient architecture of Senso-ji and Tokyo's modern skyline. This distant overlook is a celebrated photography spot, showcasing the blend of traditional and contemporary Japan. Continue to the Tsukiji Outer Market, where the lively atmosphere of the original world famous fish market remains. While the main wholesale tuna auctions moved to the new Toyosu Market in 2018, the Tsukiji Outer Market continues to be the premier location to enjoy fresh sashimi, sushi, and seafood rice bowls from local stalls

Day 3: Tokyo to Kyoto by Shinkansen – Kinkakuji Temple & Nijo Castle
Day 3: Tokyo to Kyoto by Shinkansen – Kinkakuji Temple & Nijo Castle

After breakfast, your driver will take your group to Tokyo station for your journey to Kyoto aboard Japan's famous Shinkansen Bullet Train for approximately 2.5 hours. The Shinkansen offers a smooth and efficient travel experience while allowing you to enjoy the changing scenery of both urban and rural Japan along the way. Upon arrival in Kyoto, your local guide and driver will greet your group at a designated area and begin today's sightseeing programme. Located in the Kansai region, Kyoto was once the capital of Japan and remains one of the country's most important cultural destinations. Home to 17 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, more than 1,000 Buddhist temples and over 400 Shinto shrines, Kyoto is known for its historic landmarks, traditional arts, tea ceremonies, flower arranging and geisha culture. Your first stop is Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion), one of Kyoto's most iconic landmarks and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This Zen Buddhist temple is famous for its striking golden exterior, with its top two floors completely covered in gold leaf. The reflection of the golden pavilion on the pond below creates one of Kyoto's most photographed views. Originally built in 1397 as a retirement villa for Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, it was later converted into a Zen temple according to his wishes. Continue to Nijo Castle, another UNESCO World Heritage Site that offers insight into Japan's feudal history. Built in 1603 as the Kyoto residence of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first shogun of the Edo period, the castle showcases the power and wealth of the ruling samurai clans. After the tour, transfer to your hotel for check in and the rest after a long day of exploring.

Day 4: Kyoto Tour – Fushimi Inari Shrine, Kiyomizudera Temple, Ninenzaka, Sannenzaka, Yasaka Shrine & Gion
Day 4: Kyoto Tour – Fushimi Inari Shrine, Kiyomizudera Temple, Ninenzaka, Sannenzaka, Yasaka Shrine & Gion

After breakfast, your group will spend a full day exploring Kyoto's historic and cultural treasures. Begin the morning at one of Kyoto's most famous landmarks, Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, arriving early to enjoy the site before the larger crowds arrive. The full round trip hike to the summit takes two to three hours, but many visitors only walk 30 to 40 minutes to the Yotsutsuji intersection because the number of torii gates decreases beyond that point. The shrine is renowned for its Senbon Torii, meaning "thousands of torii gates." Layers of bright vermilion gates stretch along the wooded hillside, creating a seemingly endless pathway through the forest. The striking contrast between the vivid gates and the surrounding greenery makes this one of Kyoto's most recognisable and photographed locations. Founded in 711 AD, Fushimi Inari Taisha is dedicated to Inari, the Shinto god associated with rice, agriculture, fertility, sake and industry. Continue to Kiyomizudera Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Kyoto's most celebrated temples. Perched on the hillside of Eastern Kyoto, the temple is famous for its large wooden stage that extends from the main hall and offers sweeping views over Kyoto and the surrounding landscape. Built entirely without the use of nails, the temple's main hall is considered an architectural masterpiece. Kiyomizudera is also known for its sacred waters at Otowa Waterfall, where visitors come to drink from the streams, believed to bring blessings and good fortune. During your visit, explore highlights such as the Main Hall (Hondo), Jishu Shrine, Otowa Waterfall, and the unique Tainai-Meguri spiritual experience. Next, visit Yasaka Shrine, the guardian shrine of Kyoto's famous Gion district. With a history spanning more than 1,350 years, the shrine remains one of the city's most important Shinto sites. It is particularly associated with prayers for beauty, prosperity and good fortune and is best known as the centre of Kyoto's famous Gion Matsuri Festival held each July. Adjacent to the shrine lies Gion, Kyoto's renowned geisha district. Walk through its atmospheric streets lined with traditional machiya wooden townhouses, ochaya teahouses and historic restaurants. If you are fortunate, you may spot a Geiko (Geisha) or Maiko (Apprentice Geisha) dressed in elegant kimono as they make their way to evening appointments. Back to your hotel for a rest.
