Overview
This 8-day Spain and France tour from Singapore brings together Madrid, the historic towns of Castile, the distinctive culture of Spain’s Basque Country, Bordeaux and Lourdes in one cross-border journey. From Madrid’s grand boulevards and landmarks to Segovia’s Roman Aqueduct, Pedraza’s medieval streets, Bilbao’s riverside architecture and San Sebastián’s lively Old Town, each stage introduces a different side of the region.
The route then crosses into France through Hondarribia and the French Basque Country before continuing to Bordeaux and Lourdes, with a return across the Pyrenees and a stop in Zaragoza. Shared guided sightseeing, free time, Basque cider and pintxos tastings, the Monte Igueldo viewpoint and the Sanctuary of Lourdes give the journey a strong mix of cities, heritage, local traditions and changing landscapes.

- Welcome to Madrid. Upon arrival, a transfer takes you to your hotel, with time to settle in before the afternoon sightseeing begins. Hotel check-in is usually at 2:00 p.m.; if you require earlier access to your room, an additional night at the beginning of the tour can be booked.
- At around 4:00 p.m., meet your guide for a panoramic tour of Madrid lasting approximately two and a half hours. The route takes in Cibeles Fountain, Puerta de Alcalá, Retiro Park, Serrano Street, Castellana Avenue, Colón Square, Paseo del Prado, the exterior of the Prado Museum, Atocha Station and the Royal Palace. The tour ends around the Plaza Mayor area, a traditional part of the city known for its tapas bars, where your guide will point out the main taverns and restaurants.
- The exact sightseeing schedule may vary slightly according to the arrival times of the group, traffic conditions and the season.

- Enjoy a free day in Madrid to experience the capital at your own pace. You may choose to visit the Prado Museum or spend time shopping in the city centre. An optional excursion to Toledo is also offered, giving you the opportunity to visit the historic former Spanish imperial capital and explore its monumental heritage.

- After breakfast, depart Madrid at approximately 8:30 a.m., travelling north through the Castile region towards Segovia. At around 10:00 a.m., arrive in Segovia and follow a route around the city to the Mirador de la Pradera de San Marcos. From this viewpoint, you can look across towards the Alcazar of Segovia and its surrounding walls.
- Continue to the area near the Roman Aqueduct, built in the 1st century and now recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There is free time to explore Segovia's old town, have lunch and visit Plaza Mayor, where the cathedral and Alcazar can be seen.
- Depart Segovia at approximately 2:00 p.m. and continue towards Pedraza. At around 2:45 p.m., enjoy time in this well-preserved medieval village, with its cobblestone streets, historic buildings, Plaza Mayor and 13th-century fortress.
- Leave Pedraza at approximately 4:15 p.m. and continue towards the Basque Country. Arrive in Bilbao around 8:30 p.m., with free time to explore the Old Town and its many taverns and bars, including opportunities to try the renowned local pintxos. Transfer to the hotel follows at approximately 9:30 p.m.

- After breakfast, begin a guided tour of Bilbao, the largest city in the Basque Country and an important regional centre for culture and commerce. Following the Nervion River, the tour introduces the city's broad avenues, elegant buildings and revitalised riverside districts, concluding at the Guggenheim Museum. You will have free time here to explore, have lunch or visit the museum.
- Depart Bilbao at approximately 2:15 p.m. and continue to Guernica, arriving around 3:00 p.m. There is time to stroll through the town and see the Tree of Guernica, an important symbol of Basque history. Guernica is also remembered for the tragic massacre during the Spanish Civil War that was depicted in Pablo Picasso's famous painting.
- Leave Guernica at approximately 4:15 p.m. and continue through the Basque mountains to San Sebastián. Arriving around 5:30 p.m., travel up Monte Igueldo for views across the city before continuing to the centre. Enjoy time around the extensive beach, grand boulevards and Old Town, where narrow streets bring together local traditions and culinary culture.
- At approximately 8:30 p.m., enjoy a tasting of pintxos with drinks in the Old Town. Dinner is included before the transfer to the hotel at around 9:30 p.m.

- Depart San Sebastián at approximately 8:30 a.m. and travel to Hondarribia, arriving around 9:00 a.m. Enjoy free time in this historic Basque town, known for its beach, old walls and charming historic centre, with narrow cobblestone streets arranged in a distinctive grid pattern.
- Depart Hondarribia at 11:00 a.m. for the Basque Cider Museum, arriving around 11:30 a.m. Admission and a tasting are included. The visit introduces the history and production of Basque cider and its role within local culture and tradition.
- Leave the museum at 12:30 p.m. and return to San Sebastián for free time to have lunch and take a final stroll through the city before continuing the journey.
- At approximately 4:15 p.m., depart San Sebastián and cross into France. The route passes through the French Basque Country and the Landes region before continuing towards Bordeaux and its renowned wine country. Arrive in Bordeaux around 7:15 p.m. and drive through the city centre on the way to the hotel while your guide provides an introduction to the city's main attractions. You may return later during your free time to explore the area independently.

- Take time to explore central Bordeaux before continuing towards the Pyrenees. The city centre is recognised as a World Heritage Site, with the Water Mirror, historic pedestrian streets and an 11th-century cathedral among the notable places to see. You will also have free time along the Garonne River banks, where restaurants provide options for lunch. Alternatively, you may choose to visit Cité du Vin, an interactive museum dedicated to the history and production of wine.
- Depart Bordeaux at approximately 2:00 p.m. and continue towards Lourdes. Arrive around 5:30 p.m. and have time to visit the Sanctuary. A candlelight procession is typically held at 9:00 p.m. from late March to late October.

- Depart Lourdes at approximately 8:00 a.m. and cross the Pyrenees, the natural border between France and Spain. The route passes through the mountain range towards the Aragonese Pyrenees, where high peaks and mountain villages shape the journey.
- At around 10:00 a.m., stop in Sallent de Gállego, a small village close to the French border. Enjoy time to see its Gothic church and medieval stone bridge before continuing through the mountains at approximately 11:00 a.m.
- Arrive in Zaragoza around 1:15 p.m. for a stop in the capital of Aragon. There is time for lunch, exploration of the historic quarter and a visit to the great Plaza del Pilar, home to its cathedral and basilica and the venerated Virgin of the Pilar.
- Depart Zaragoza at approximately 4:30 p.m. and continue to Madrid, arriving around 9:00 p.m. at the end of the day.

- After breakfast, the tour comes to an end in Madrid. Take the remaining time to reflect on the journey from the Spanish capital through Castile and the Basque Country, across into France, through Lourdes and back over the Pyrenees to Madrid.
- Hotel check-out is usually at 10:00 a.m. If you would like to continue exploring Madrid after check-out, luggage can be left at reception and collected later. Additional time in the room can be arranged by booking an extra night at the end of the tour.
