Overview
Explore northern and central Sri Lanka on this 12-day Sri Lanka tour from Singapore, combining ancient cities, Hindu and Buddhist heritage, wildlife, highland landscapes and distinctive local experiences. The journey begins in Negombo and continues through Yapahuwa, Wilpattu National Park, Anuradhapura and Jaffna, with visits to historic sites including Jaffna Fort, Nallur Kovil, Mihintale, Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa and Dambulla. The route then moves through Kandy and the central highlands before finishing in Colombo.
Along the way, the itinerary combines a Wilpattu safari, Jaffna heritage and cuisine, ancient UNESCO-listed sites, the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, Peradeniya Botanical Garden, an elephant experience, tea plantation and factory visits, high tea in Nuwara Eliya, and white-water rafting in Kitulgala. Accommodation is provided across selected hotels in each overnight destination, with full-board meals and a private air-conditioned vehicle with an English-speaking chauffeur/national guide, depending on the group.

- Welcome to Sri Lanka. Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, meet your representative and transfer to Negombo, approximately 30 minutes away. Check in at Jetwing Sea and settle into your room before enjoying time at the hotel and by the beach. The relaxed first evening gives you time to rest after your flight and prepare for the journey ahead.

- After breakfast, depart Negombo for Yapahuwa, approximately 2.5 hours away. Explore the ancient rock fortress and its historic remains before continuing to a local restaurant for lunch. Travel onwards to Wilpattu National Park, approximately 1 hour away, for a jeep safari through one of Sri Lanka's major wildlife areas. After the safari, continue for approximately 1.5 hours to Anuradhapura and check in at Lake Forest Hotel.

- Begin the day exploring Anuradhapura Ancient City, one of Sri Lanka's ancient capitals. After lunch at a local restaurant, continue to Aukana to see the renowned Aukana Buddha Statue before returning to Anuradhapura for the evening.

- Depart Anuradhapura for Jaffna, approximately a 3.5-hour drive. Jaffna offers a distinct Tamil cultural and historical character, making this northern region an important part of the journey. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit Nallur Kovil, a significant Hindu temple known for its detailed architecture and religious importance. Continue to Jetwing Jaffna for your overnight stay.

- Explore the historic Jaffna Fort, a 17th-century structure reflecting the region's colonial history. - Leave Jaffna and travel approximately 4 hours to Mihintale, an important Buddhist site associated with the introduction of Buddhism to Sri Lanka. Later, visit a local village and hand over a value pack containing essential items as a small contribution to the local community.

- Visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress, an ancient rock complex known for its historic remains, frescoes and water gardens. The visit involves walking and climbing, so comfortable shoes and drinking water are recommended. After lunch, continue to Polonnaruwa, the former second capital of Sri Lanka, where ancient structures and irrigation works reflect the city's historical importance. Return to Habarana for the night.

- Travel onwards to Dambulla Cave Temple, where Buddhist murals and statues fill the historic cave complex. Visit Sri Muthumari Amman Kovil, dedicated to Mariamman, before continuing to Kandy. End the day at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, one of the island's most important Buddhist sites, before checking in at Mahaweli Reach.

- Start the morning at the Elephant Freedom Project, where you can join the elephants in the river for a bath and enjoy a walk with them. After lunch at a local restaurant, travel approximately 30 minutes to Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. Explore its extensive plant collections and landscaped grounds before returning to Kandy for the evening.

- Travel from Kandy towards Nanuoya/Nuwara Eliya by train, a journey of approximately 3 hours, as planned in the original itinerary. On arrival, check in at Araliya Green City and continue to a tea plantation and factory to learn about Sri Lanka's tea production. Later, enjoy a High Tea Experience at the historic Grand Hotel, accompanied by a selection of treats.

- Check out and travel approximately 2 hours to Kitulgala, an area known for its white-water rafting experiences. Take part in the included rafting activity before continuing approximately 2.5 hours to Colombo. Rafting is an outdoor adventure activity involving moving water. Participants should wear comfortable clothing suitable for rafting, follow the instructions of the rafting guide, and inform the guide of any relevant physical limitations before taking part. White-water rafting is not permitted for children below 8 years old. On arrival in Colombo, check in at Galle Face Hotel, where you can settle in and enjoy the hotel's coastal setting.
